Genetic Algorithms in determination of interatomic potentials of diatomic molecules

Genetic algorithms are optimization algorithms inspired by the biological evolution process. They are widely used in wide areas of science and technics e.g. for characterizing economic models, generating the trajectory of industrial robots or in DNA analysis. In the seminar I will explain how genetic algorithms work and show how to use simple GA to find parameters of analytical potential energy curves (PECs) of diatomic molecules based on spectroscopic data.
