BEC production in the optical trap

In the talk I will present the experimental setup constructed at Jagiellonian Univeristy, which allows for cooling ⁸⁷Rb atoms into a Bose-Einstein condensate. I will describe the techniques employed - laser cooling in a magneto-optical trap and evaporative cooling in an optical dipole trap. I will present the results of preliminary diagnostics of the condensate, an briefly mention our plans for further work with it.
