UVC emission produced by upconversion mechanisms
The lecture will focus on basic upconversion mechanisms such as excited state absorption (ESA) and energy transfer upconversion (ETU). Methods to distinguish between these two mechanisms will be presented.
The second part of the lecture will focus on the host and dopant selection strategy to achieve upconversion emission in the UVC region. The motivation for such experiments will be explained and examples of several matrices in which such emission has been successfully achieved will be given.
