The comprehensive plasma diagnostics using laser scattering and nonlinear optics.
The comprehensive diagnostics of the laboratory plasma can find application in many fields of physics and technology. It could be useful, for example, in investigations of the Stark broadened hydrogen emission lines. The understanding of the origin of these lines shape is crucial, surprisingly, for white dwarfs atmospheres observations [1].
During my seminar, I would like to present our recent results in the field of the laser-induced plasma diagnostics. I will talk about the improved two-colour Thomson and Rayleigh scattering method which is used to obtain the main thermodynamical properties of the plasma (electron concentration, its temperature and the temperature of heavy particles - ions and atoms). I will show hydrogen emission spectra measured under conditions monitored by this method. Finally, I will present new ideas of improving our experiments using nonlinear optical phenomena. I will present the currently built setup for the plasma spectroscopy with ultra-high spectral resolution and sensitivity using the Fabry-Pérot interferometer and the optical parametric amplifier.
