A theoretical description of the most of the experiments involving an interaction of light with matter is based on an assumption that matter (eg. atom) is an quantum mechanical object and light can be treated as a classic electromagnetic wave. Full quantum mechanical approach is mathematically more involved, in the most cased not necessary, but it can provide more insight into the observed effects. During my talk I will present the status of experiments on single NV center interacting with a single photon in Fock state. I will also show some preliminary studies related to single photon based superradiance in atomic systems.
