Vector magnetometry using defect centers in diamond
Probing magnetic fields using the spin states of nitrogen-vacancy (NV) color centers in diamond has gained immense prospect. By taking advantage of the positional orientation of the NV centers in a diamond lattice and by changing the direction and strength of the reference magnetic field one can perform three-dimensional vector measurement. In this talk, I will present the methods and tools to perform such an experiment and review the current state of ongoing wide-field magnetic imaging experiment. In addition, I will highlight the prospects of zero-field vector magnetometry using ensembles of NV centers in arbitrarily oriented diamond crystals.
